SCC was founded in 1969 to serve Cairo University, Its units and other universities beside various research bodies.
• In 1/1/1975 it was transformed into a specific unit having its own technical, financial and administrative independence in conformity to universities rules.
• The former name of “ Scientific Computational Researches Center” – a modification of “Scientific Computational Center – was changed into “ Scientific and Statistical Computation Researches Center “ after joining to the center the statistical laboratory unit of Statistics Institute in 1/1/1997.
It included two units :Unit (A) including the main computer and its accessories.
Unit (B): including statistical laboratory of the institute.
This entailed the change of the center regulations to be adapted to work standards within the framework of the new juncture.
In 9/1/1992 the center’s name was once again modified into : “Scientific Computational Center” , following the separation of the units (A) and (B) in all aspects in conformity to University Council
resolution # 48 in 30/4/1991 and to the University rector’s decree# 44 on 9/1/1992.
SCC is specialized in large-scale national projects characterized by modern management requirement of
precise data collection and cadres training to enhance benefiting from material and human potentials contributing thus to facilitating differentiation from among best available alternative, besides helping in expediting proper decisions for decision – makers.
SCC is specialized more over in implementing information systems plans, offering consultative services and training of all faculties of Cairo University, external bodies and individual in computer and info technology engineering. It conduits especially the following.
researches and studies for improving efficiency of scientific computation and electronic computers.
- Studies, analyses, designs and executions of particular systems of university computers and computers of other external bodies.
- Providing scientific and applied consultations in electronic computer application and contributing to the execution of studies and system for research centers, bodies and individuals within and without the university.
- holding training scientific and practiced courses in the fields of engineering and computer and informational sciences, accessible to relevant –
knowledge individuals within and without the university.
- Qualifying the Cairo University computer network and management thereof.
- Providing services of computer and info network for faculties, institutes and research centers in Cairo University and
different administrative departments.
- Providing services of scientific computers and training of Cairo University Students.
S.C.C. is specialized as well in specifically specialized fields such as “Information Engineering “ and establishing national informational bases and forming highly-qualified specialized carders. Thus dealing with error mouse amounts of specific information of Cairo University was available.
SCC. extended activity in establishing the data base to include some bodies, public and private as societies.
SCC. has supplied an integrated information system for computerizing and dealing with main data bases in the university (for senior students, post-graduates, personnel, salaries, dues and deserts of staff and personnel. This system has been applied for 4 years in faculties, institutes and administrations of Cairo University in the main campus.
SCC. has laid out a comprehensive plane to construct a speedy network to transfer data and connect faculties. Actual connections to all premises, faculties and
administrations of the main campus through photo fiber network ( ultra speed ) have taken place, thus providing the infrastructure and suitable medium for operating info system in addition to internet web connections for faculties and institutes. Besides, the center hosts Cairo University on the internet, as it is considered a main gateway for the university.
One of main tasks entrusted to the center is the scheme involving university admission assortment / coordination and distribution over faculties and institutes all over the country in cooperation with university admission coordination with university admission coordination office and higher education ministry.
Cairo University Info System:
The center has implemented an integrated system to develop Cairo University Info System at several administrative, scientific and researching levels. The following are applications execute by the center, hinging upon two levels:
• First level : Application Serving Academic and Education aspects; and operation

Working system in student affairs in university first stage:
This system includes all tasks and functions relevant to students affairs (examples: faculty results announcement on internet web, issuing temporary certificates, student status statement, in – detail lists of latest graduates, etc..)
Working system of post-graduate students affairs:
It includes all duties and functions relevant to post graduate studies (As examples are: statistical statements of
studied registered for master and doctorate degrees in detail statistical dissertations of registered Master and Doctorate degrees, statistical statement of students acquiring the degree and other functions)
• Second level : Application serving administrative purposes, salaries and financial aspects:
- System of Personnel affairs (general / special cadres)
- System of Salaries rewords accounting affairs (general / special carders)
- System of Financial and Balancing accounts
- system of Fund accounts
- system of warehouses and purchases
The infra-structure and Cairo University Statements Transfer
The center has executed Backbone Fiber Network among all CU. premises and connected it to a central university computer, which serves two main applications:
1- Operating CU. Info system through these network and central computer, taking into consideration protection and security system.
2- Interconnecting faculties and departments to the main network and allowing them access to Internet web.
